Steve Haberlin, Ph.D., is a professor, researcher, and recognized authority at the intersection of digitally assisted, including artificial intelligence and meditation. He serves as an Assistant Professor in the College of Community Innovation and Education at the University of Central Florida, where he investigates how meditation, mindfulness, and mind-body practices—especially those augmented by AI, virtual reality, and biometric feedback—transform student mental health and academic functioning.
Dr. Haberlin is the author of Meditation in the College Classroom and several additional titles with Rowman & Littlefield/Bloomsbury, and his upcoming groundbreaking book with Routledge, Meta-Meditation for Mental Health (Spring 2026), explores how neuroscience, VR, and AI are radically reshaping meditation practice and what this means for the future of well-being.

He has published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of American College Health, and his work is increasingly cited in conversations about the future of digital mindfulness, meditation technology, and higher education mental health interventions. In addition to his academic scholarship, Dr. Haberlin serves as an editor for the Journal of Contemplative and Holistic Education and is co-program chair for the American Educational Research Association’s Contemplative Inquiry and Holistic Education SIG. He frequently partners with universities, wellness companies, and meditation app developers as a consultant on AI-enhanced mindfulness design, mind-body curriculum development, and digital meditation interventions.
With 29 years of personal meditation practice, certification in Contemplative Studies under Dr. Miles Neale, Dr. Haberlin brings a rare combination of scholarship, deep practice, and technological fluency to the rapidly evolving field of AI-assisted meditation.
